She nodded her head lightly to him, her soft pink eyes never truly leaving his features. She was loath to admit it was because she could hardly hear him, and needed the eye contact to read his lips... but oh well. "I don't normally get lost... I just wasn't paying attention today." she half mumbled out, it wasn't really an excuse. she didn't really deserve to have a full blooded gryvern escort her home anyways.
As they walked she couldn't help but feel more and more guilty, but managed to hide it... "I don't really know anyone in the valley other than Natalya..." she mumbled out in a vain attempt to start a conversation, it was so hard for her not to jump right into what she was leading him towards.... but something else in her head said that it would be wrong to put such a question to him.

"You didn't grow up there?" he asked her, somewhat surprised. "With your mother?"
He continued his calm pad forward, but a tiny, naggling suspicion was forming in his head. Call it hunter's intuition, call it paranoia, but he was becoming convinced that there was something about this girl's background - and about Natalya's life since he had last seen her - that he didn't know. Something major. Something that would make all the odd pieces to Serce finally click.

She gave him a small, slightly sorry looking smile and looked up ahead.. her eyes finally leaving his features as she sighed and picked up the pace a little bit. "I grew up there... But... Half breeds are not very welcomed." her eyes glanced back at him for just a moment before looking back up at where they were going.
The feathers on her shoulders seemed to sag slightly, and overall she seemed a little bit sad about that fact. She probably would have met more people had she not acted so shy, but it was hard for her. She couldn't stand the contempt that some of the gryvern gave her, or the pity that the others held for her.

Rastko couldn't pretend to know what it was like to grow up a halfbreed, neither belonging to one world or the other, nor could he pretend that he had not been a little shocked himself when the first of the mixed litters had appeared.
"Others with your background are becoming more common these days," he said neutrally, careful about his words.

She slowly looked back at him, she only heard light mumbling from his words but could guess what he had said... she shuddered lightly, her fur bristling before resettling to it's normal smooth and soft looking texture... "I suppose so..."
She shivered then slowed down so she came up beside him, edging very slightly closer to him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't really be complaining..." her eyes brightened a little bit and she smiled again. "Do you know any tsumes?" she asked idly.

That the distance between the two had shortened did not escape the hunter's notice.
Tsumes?
"I know of a few of them," he said. "I rather briefly met Jaradka, but I doubt she'd remember me."
He almost smiled, wondering that if the off kilter tsume recalled him at all if it would be as "antlered prey" or something equally as helpful.
"Personally, though, no. I am not acquainted with any. I suppose you have plenty of friends and family who are?"

Serce nodded lightly when he mentioned Jaradka, she too had heard of that rather odd acting tsume, it was the first to produce hybrid gryvern wasn't it? ah well she sounded interesting anyways.
She shook her head when he asked whether she had plenty of friends or family who were, this gryvern was rather nice but he seemed to have rather short term memory or something. "No... I haven't met any." She shook her head then smiled over at him lightly, still avoiding direct eye contact. "I was just curious about them... oh well."
Even though it hadn't seemed to have been too long, their destination wasn't incredibly far away... at their current pace it would probably only take a hour or two.
