"Me, too," the Fire answered with a slight toss of her head. She did rather wish she could get some of the ability to not be burned, which she thought she'd heard someone mentioning at some point or another. That was yet another facet she'd like to introduce to her children. Perhaps she could find a fire tsume to meet up with at some point. . .
Mahu smiled encouragingly at Volos-- he seemed almost shy, actually. "I guess I'll have to take your word for it," she said lightly. "Taking on rampant plant life doesn't seem that interesting to me." With her active Caste, this likely wasn't much of a surprise.

He glanced away slightly, before leaning over against her. His fur ruffled a bit, he was so unused to contact... Really, who wanted to touch someone when it meant they might lose a hand, even by accident. It felt... Nice. Part of him wanted to edge away again, but he attempted to resist that.
"I guess I must be pretty boring for an explorer..." he hummed as he thought about what she might find more interesting, then grinned a bit. "How well do you know Chaos hills? I know you found this place, but I'm sure there are some more interesting places to be."
Now where would he take her? There was a pretty romantic cliff not too far from here, overlooking such a large section of the landscape... Or more secluded ponds and such, maybe she'd voice a preference before he got too lost in thought.

Mahu wasn't exactly surprised by Volos suddenly leaning against her, but she hadn't expected the movement either. She let her tail flip one way then the other at his disclaimer. "No, not boring," she said lightly. "You're different and therefore interesting." She couldn't stop a small wiggle of excitement, however, at the idea of getting to look around some more.
"I don't know it too well," she admitted. "I've been exploring other areas more than this one." She paused before asking almost slyly, "Any good water areas?"

"Water?" he looked up as he thought about it, then looked back down to her and nodded. Getting up and stretching he looked about. He decided that somewhere with shallower, and more calm water would be the best. A flicker of amusement hit him as she wiggled excitedly though, he did his best to hide it. "I think I know a good spot."
He motioned which way it was with his head, then began to head that direction. He walked a bit better than one might expect with such odd forelimbs. Although they did make an occasional loud 'clack' against rocks. Once he was sure she was following him he took off much more quickly, often times planting his spiked forearms into the earth and using them to 'vault' somewhat forward over things and just in general to increase his speed. She was likely faster than him still, but it was surprising how well he could move once he put his mind to it.
He didn't remember 'exactly' where it was though, so the first to reach it would likely end in a splash. As it went rather abruptly from brush and trees to small creek and pond.

He certainly did move faster than she expected, though she hadn't realized she wasn't expecting him to move well until he already proved he was adept at dealing with his natural weaponry. She followed along behind him, content, for now, to stick to the ground. She was automatically plotting landmarks in her head, making another mental map without even trying.
Mahu was excited about getting to spend time with more water-- what Gryvern wasn't-- but even that thought was distracted by the sight of Volos vaulting over obstacles. She could leap them easily-- she did use the same ability, which meant she tended to wiggle a little as she did so-- and would do so, though she kept her eyes on her guide to see how else he'd use his blades.
As such, he was certainly in the lead when they reached the pond, and her ears twitched happily at the sound of the splash. She slowed down so if Volos stopped unexpectedly in the water she wouldn't run smack into him.

At one, or two points while running he had even stuck his bladed arms into trees and such, sliding and slicing down to avoid falling too far at drop offs... Although the sudden splash caught him by surprise, luckily his yelp was drown out by the water. He had chosen it since it wasn't especially deep though, so he didn't actually have to worry about drowning too much. Instead he just powered through to the other side of the pond, barely reaching the shallower part before his momentum gave out.
As he clawed his way up to the shore he looked back... "It's clear," he announced, before coughing a few times. His little wings fluttering to shake off some water. Now that he got to look around though, he noticed that things were a bit different than last time. the stream that led into the pond was very overgrown... Actually the whole area was, that explained why he stumbled into it so easily. The pond was probably just deep enough to go over her head in the middle, and the water was calm and pretty cool.
"What do you think?" he asked curiously, he seemed a little reluctant to go deeper than his ankles... But it was understandable considering he likely couldn't swim.

Mahu stuck her head through the brush just as he called that it was clear. Her dark ears twitched happily at the sight of the water and she leapt gracefully over the bushes at the side to land in the water with a smallish splash. She looked around, noting only absently that he seemed to be trying to get back out of the water.
"This is lovely." She couldn't help but sigh the words happily. The Fire moved towards the middle, purposefully dipping her tail into the water until she found an area where she would have to paddle. Swimming, however, was one of the first new skills she'd picked up when she'd begun exploring. She might not be the most graceful in the water, but it was apparent to anyone how much she enjoyed being there.
Despite this, however, she didn't stay too long in the middle of the pond. She moved to an area a short distance from Volos then shook herself violently-- spraying water everywhere, though she had apparently tried to keep from soaking the Blade. She moved closer to him so she could sit on the shore and gave him a very pleased smile. "It is always amazing to see so much readily available water here," she admitted cheerfully.

Volos waded near the shore as he watched her paddle about, he was glad that she was so happy with his choice of locations... He had almost picked a large waterfall that was further away, but it was too turbulent to swim there. This place was much more peaceful. "I'm glad you like it," he tilted his head as he watched her swim... He wondered what it was like, he could float sometimes, but even then his bladed arms and legs didn't help too much with moving in the water.
He hadn't really learned that much about the gryvern's home, but as far as he knew there was very little water to be found there. Perhaps it was a desert? he mentally shrugged, not feeling curious enough to really ask. Instead he just smiled to her, bowing his head a bit to avoid the spray of water that came from her. A moment later he shook as well, but not so heavily. "It's pretty nice... Maybe I should take you to the ocean later? It's a few days trip though, I'm willing if you're interested."
At this point he was worrying less about a possible liason, it was pretty fun just to be around her. She was sane, somewhat energetic but not overly so... And also didn't have the tendancy to talk to people he couldn't see.

"Ocean, that's the salty one, right?" She asked lightly, watching the peaceful mirror of the water with a small smile still tugging at the edges of her mouth. She liked forests well enough, inf act, they were likely her preferred surroundings, but nothing could beat this; a calm afternoon lounging beside a pond.
"It sounds interesting. Do you normally hang out around bodies of water?" She turned to glance over at Volos, still smiling.

He nodded to her. "It's salty, and goes on for further than the eye can see." he had only been to the ocean once or twice himself, honestly there wasn't much to do there if you couldn't swim or fly. It was still nice though.
As to her preferences of locale though, they were currently in a forest, and beside a pond. A pretty good situation. "Sometimes, definitely on hot days though, it's dangerous if my fur gets itchy from the heat." He chuckled slightly and scratched his nose carefully with the side of his bladed arm, demonstrating why it could be bad.
he was smiling pretty widely back to her, head tilted a little curiously. He was tempted to ask why she signed up for the breeding program... He was still sure she would have found a mate of her own species already had she been looking, but he didn't since he had a pretty poor explanation for why he did... Which was along the lines of 'Mozer asked me if I wanted to.' Yeah. Too awkward.

Mahu tilted her head to one side, causing the crystal hanging from her ear to swing back and forth quickly. It glinted as it caught rays of light and dispersed them. Salty water that went further than you could see. Even now the description caught her attention, though salty water wasn't nearly as useful in her estimation. It was a little fun to play in, but she would always prefer something she could drink.
She watched his careful movements with a blade and had to smile again herself, though it was a bit frightening to see. "Perhaps you can find some anti-itch cream," she said lightly. Mozer had told her about it once after she's accidentally sat in a fire ant hive. Despite having a respectable amount of interaction with the Scholar, Mahu really didn't know the Dark male very well. She had long since decided that he was that way on purpose; easy-going and easy to approach, but certainly not one to let others truly understand him.
"Someday," she said, mind back on where she normally hung around as her eyes slipped back to the water. "I shall have a nice cave in the woods near my own pond."

Volos stretched out again, his tiny wings fluttering uselessly. Unless you counted the fact that they cooled off his back a tiny bit due to the water. He shivered then smiled at her again. His eyes followed the movement of her crystal in a near trance, but when she spoke again he snapped out of it and attempted to hide the fact he had gotten so easily distracted. "Oh... I've tried that, I have the same problem attempting to apply it." he said with a somewhat sheepish smile.
He was terribly lucky that he was observant enough to avoid ant hives and the like, other than rolling around he had no good way of removing small insects or other such things, unless he wanted to risk removing his own skin in the process.
he followed her gaze to the water, then retraced it back to the gazer. "This place is so large, I'm sure you'll find one when the time is right." he reached out with an arm, then gently ran it along the underside of her chin, angling it just a little bit to remove the water droplets that were likely forming there. The blade felt warm, especially now that they had cooled off a bit.
"My cave is at the base of some mountains, it's not very exciting."

Oh, yes. Application would be a serious problem for the Blade tsume. She tilted her head as she stared at him again for a moment, trying to think of a solution for the male. There really wasn't a good for way him to apply such things. Hrms. . . "You need a pet!" she announced suddenly. "Something smart enough to be taught how to do things like apply creams and reach the areas you cannot." The Fire gave a sharp nod of her head to indicate that this was obviously the answer to his quandary. She might have actually leapt up that moment to go initiate a search except that she wasn't certain wot of the wildlife here was smart enough to be taught but dumb enough to be caught.
Mahu started slightly when that gentle touch caught her under the chin, and she gave a low laugh at her own reaction. It was strange that his blade was warm and she idly wondered why. Mozer, of course, would have been afire with questions. She'd just assumed that the blades were like Casimir's spikes; they were apart of him, but that was it. Maybe it was different for Volos.
"Are they pretty mountains?" the gryvern asked in response to his description, obviously curious despite the 'it's not very exciting' part.

He couldn't help but chuckle as she eyed him, although he nearly choked when she suggested he get a pet.. Oh no, he wouldn't do that again. It was too traumatic for all involved, nothing like getting a beloved pet impaled on your ear... He shivered reflexively, a slight clicking sound coming from all the spikes on his back rattling against eachother for a moment. "I think I'll just settle for asking people around me if it gets really bad, pets... haven't really lasted that long in the past." he said with a slightly embarrassed look on his face.
He felt a little bad that he startled her, but smiled when she laughed. His blade was much more an extension of himself than Casimir's were, all the abilities that he had were channeled into or through them... Mainly in the form of being able to sharpen, or dull it at a moments notice, even to unnatural levels.
"I suppose so, very tall and gray... The tops have snow on them, but I've never climbed that high. The only other things living around there are mountain goats, lizards, and snakes." he grinned a little bit. "All of which taste pretty good, the goats are hard to catch though."
